Identical to the hilly nature of the district, the Collectorate is located at 'Kuyilimala', a hill station surrounded by reserved forests which is only 10 Kms away from the Historic Idukki Arch Dam. It may be pointed out that Idukki could be the only District in India, having its Head Quarters located in a forest with no possible commercial development whatsoever possible within the radius of 10 to 15 Kilometers.The existence of only Government Departments and the difficult proximity for people to reach the HQ are the major problems faced.
